Jade Wildfire – Yalakom Valley Evacuation Alert Remains in Effect
PEMBERTON, BC – An estimated 75 - 85 residents remain on evacuation alert in the Yalakom Valley. The Squamish-Lillooet Regional District, Ministry of Forests and Range and the RCMP continue to hold community information meetings with the residents to provide information and answer questions and concerns they may have. Information being provided to residents includes handouts on evacuation procedures; what to do when an alert is in effect, and what to do when an evacuation order is issued. This information is also available on the SLRD website at www.slrd.bc.ca . The Evacuation Alert remains in effect for the specified area affected by the Jade Wildfire K70219 http://bcwildfire.ca/hprScripts/WildfireNews/OneFire.asp?ID=370 In the event of an Evacuation Order being issued, it is very important that individuals report to the designated Reception Centre. This will allow for effective communications with the evacuation team and will facilitate contact by friends or relatives. The Lillooet Emergency Social Services Reception Centre will be located at 930 Main Street; telephone 250-256-7527.
